News - Warzone 2: The Season 3 Meta Update. Best Weapons
The season three update here in Warzone 2 ended up including a lot of weapon tuning, a lot of weapon balancing buffs, some things nerfed, and a few other things. It also added a few new things to the meta conversation, and so today we are going over the broad overview of the season 3 weapons and meta update.
What is, of course, in the absolute meta right now? What might make the top tier more competitive?
New season 3 weapons ␓ fjk imperium & cronen squall ␓ are they meta?
We've got two of them: the FJX Imperium, aka The Intervention, as well as the Cronin Squall battle rifle, and with the FJX Imperium, this to me has gotta land in the top tier simply because it's one of the few snipers that can actually get one shot down here in War Zone 2, even if an enemy has full armor now.
Keep in mind that you do have to be running the explosive mo4, which makes the velocity kind of tricky to learn. It's especially good in the midrange, where velocity is not as important over the long range. That one-shot potential is still there; it's just going to be much harder to actually, you know, follow through with because you have to lead your shot and know the bullet drops so much.
But that said, he is absolutely one of the top-tier snipers, and as we go through, we'll touch on the snipers here in just a moment to see which of those are actually top-tier at the Cronin Squall, though we'll move on to this one also. A very good choice, and quite frankly, I would probably drop this one into the top tier area as, well, funny enough.
Whether you're using it in full auto, where the damage is a little bit worse than in semi-auto, it's still going to be a very solid option, particularly in semi-auto. This feels like a very strong and competitive option, whether the enemies have armor or not. If you're landing those upper body shots and you can land them consistently, the thing is going to absolutely fry, and in my opinion, it really is like the best battle rifle in the game as of right now.
Warzone 2 one shot snipers updates ␓ new meta options
Of course, with this whole update, a huge part is the fact that the bolt-action snipers can one-shot; however, there are only two other options that meet this specific criteria outside of the Imperium, and that is the Victus XMR, which to me also jumps up into that top-tier area right next to the Imperium, as well as the McPr300.
Every one of these almost feels identical. You can build them up to be a bit more quick-scopy and aggressive, or you can build them out better for long range, which is personally how I prefer it, but all of them are going to be great choices.
New warzone 2 meta changes after season 3 update
If you're looking for a sniper that is one-shot capable, then we get into all of the weapons, tuning the buffs and the nerfs, and I've got my lengthy list here of all the changes that were made, so that's why you'll see me referencing over here so much.
First up, the hemlock, one of our current absolute meta weapons. They also ended up nerfing the lower torso multiplier more than the 300 Blackout rounds. We also got a recoil Nerf, a headshot buff, and a ranged Nerf, so a lot of elements here ended up taking hits, and to me, that drops this down more in line with these other top-tier rifles like the M4, for instance.
We also made a change to the M13B. This got a headshot, a lowered torso buff, a mid-range damage buff, and an upper torso nerf. Now, I won't lie, despite the buffs here, which are nice. It's still not something that's going to, you know, jump immediately up into the absolute meta category by any means; in fact, it's going to stay in the top tier.
I think it could honestly have an argument for just being incompetitive, considering that in the mid-range it's not anything too crazy, and the long range is really where it thrives, but even then, because of its rate of fire, it's still not the number one choice by any means there either, so we're going to keep it for now, but that's one to keep an eye on for the future now, the stb556.
Actually, I saw some very promising updates here. There was a headshot, a leg, a lower torso, and a mid-range damage buff here, so all those options got buffed. It also had a mid-range damage range. Nerf, which isn't anything too crazy to me. This, actually, was such a loud vehicle that it actually ended up jumping up into that top-tier area as well.
Funny enough, I mean, it's low recoil, and now it's going to feel a little bit more effective over the mid- to long-range because of the damage changes there. If it's not something you've used much lately, I would definitely recommend trying it out. Now here's another interesting one: the TAC 56 actually ended up getting a headshot from Nerf.
They initially said in the patch notes that it was a buff, and I'm sitting here going, "Tag 56, clear and obvious best rifle choice." They then later corrected themselves and said, "No, we meant to say it was a Nerf, not a buff." So this actually, again. I think drops down next to the hemlock. The only reason the tag 56 was actually in absolute metal is because it was similar to the hemlock; both of those were kind of neck and neck there, and now that both are nerfed.
I don't feel like either of our absolute metals is going to make you notice there are a lot of top-tier options and very few absolute meta options. After this update, we actually saw several updates to a lot of the other battle rifles. The f-tac Recon got a movement buff, a leg buff, and an upper torso buff, so all of those properties ended up getting buffed.
I don't think that brings it above competitive, though, quite frankly, the Lochman 762 actually got a movement buff again, not something that's going to make it jump up into the top tier, but it's definitely a good option, hence why it's incompetitive. The SO14 got a movement buff and then also a buff to armor damage, but not something that's going to bring it up.
Then, also, the attack V got a movement buff and a leg armor buff, so it's again going to be a little bit faster and hit a little bit stronger against armor, but quite frankly, it was kind of just destroyed. When they ended up nerfing it so hard, that's not going to make them stand out in competitive either, so some solid updates to the batter rifles, but not anything that's going to make them stand out like crazy now, the Basilisk also got some much needed changes in my opinion; they nerfed its damage to armor, and also the snake shot ammo got enough that to me does bring it down into average with some of the other pistols.
