News - Is Ground War Any Good Warzone 2i (post-beta Feedback)

Thankfully, it's only on one map so far, so it seems like they're not just going to be throwing these in on every single map, but I honestly feel the mode plays significantly better without that spawn helicopter. Next, let's talk about the captured areas a little bit. This is another little gripe that I had with the way that they're handling the ground war this time around.

In Modern Warfare 3, it seems they've really shrunk down on the side of that capture area, and another thing I noticed, at least with many of the capture points, is that they're just right out in the open with no viable cover to be using while you're capturing that, and I'm not a big fan of that at all.

I prefer the style where that capture area encompasses like an entire building, or just a section of the map that has a wide variety of pieces of cover that can be used, and therefore if you're attacking or trying to defend that capture point, you typically have to actually get in there and fight for it, whereas for many of the points I was noticing on these maps in Modern Warfare 3, you could just defend it from a rooftop, 100 met away with a sniper rifle because they don't have any viable cover to use against you, you could just pick them off.

I found that capturing many of the points was just throwing your body into an open area, maybe throwing a smoke grenade down, and hoping nobody picked you off from a distance. And that does take away from the mode because that also eliminates those really tense situations where you're at a contested point and you have to find the enemy, or you have to lock down an area and hope the enemy is going to try to find you and try to set yourself up in an advantageous position to take them out.

I miss that feeling of really fighting over a contested objective. Rather than just lying down on the ground and hoping nobody shoots you now, I'm not saying every single capture point was like this. There were some interesting capture areas for sure, but I think there were far too many of these capture points that were just a tiny capture point in an open area with few if any viable options for cover while trying to capture that.

On a similar note, another minor gripe that I was noticing with certain capture areas on the maps is the flag spawn point. So I'm not talking about spawning on your squadmate, but when you select a flag to spawn on, there are just some strange spawns. Sometimes it would be a spawn, like out in the open with no cover around you, and therefore you don't get a realistic chance when you spawn in there, and we're talking about a flag spawn here, not a squad spawn.

I think if you spawn on a flag, you should be spawning in a reasonably safe position. That at least allows you some options and doesn't immediately doom you, and another thing I was noticing was that some of those spawn points were way too close or directly on top of the capture area. And that made pushing certain areas way too difficult because, as you're getting closer to it, you just have enemies continuing to pop up literally right on top of the objective.

Rather than what you would typically see in older Ground Wars where they would spawn nearby the objective but they'd have to still push in to defend the objective from their spawn, the obvious defender of this one that really pops into my mind is the D flag on Orov Military Base. You would often have people just continuing to spawn right here in this corner directly on top of the capture area, and that is combined with the fact that capture area is tiny and doesn't offer any viable cover whatsoever. That makes pushing and attacking that point way more difficult than I feel it should be, and with that, that's pretty much it.

Final thoughts

Final thoughts

Those were my primary gripes with Ground War and Modern Warfare 3. Overall, while I didn't play Ground War nearly as much as 6v6 throughout the beta. I did enjoy my time on it, and I'd say at least so far I'm liking it more than I liked the Modern Warfare 2 ground war but probably a little less than I liked Modern Warfare 2019s.

Ground war, at least on many of the maps. Some of the maps in 2019 were awful, and I really didn't like playing on them, but in general this year I'm likely sticking to 6v6 as my primary mode, but I can definitely see myself coming over and dabbling with ground war, at least a lot more than I did last year with Modern Warfare 2, and at the end of the day.

I'm just really excited to also see what their War mode looks like—not ground war but war from Cod. World War II is coming back. If you haven't already, I'll talk to you guys

So far, all of the videos I've made regarding the Modern Warfare III Beta has been focused on the 6v6 experience but today, I wanted to step away from that and share my thoughts and some feedback on the Ground War experience from the Beta.
