News - Will Modern Warfare Zombies Be Any Good. Warzone 2i Zombies Details
In the background, you're seeing some gameplay of Modern Warfare Zombies. This is actually gameplay. This is actually gameplay that was just provided as a b-roll to people that got to attend the tryout studio just before Call of Duty next. I wasn't part of that group for good reason; I don't really play Zombies all that much.
Basically dmz & outbreak
But in either case, let's go over exactly how this zombie mode is going to work. A lot of this information was already available, but let's just sum it all up here. So essentially, zombies in Modern Warfare 3 are going to be more like DMZ, but with zombies and no PVP, so you can't kill other players.
You can only kill zombies, but there will be multiple squads in the world at any given time, and you'll all essentially be working together to kill zombies, complete missions, collect items, and extract them.
Operators & loadout details
This does take place on the war zone map , and just like in DMZ, you have different operators to select before you infill, and with this, you also create load-outs, just like in DMZ.
And in today's blog post, they provided this screen here that showed off the different operators you can unlock. And with each of these operators, you select a loadout that you go into with five items. The first item is your rucksack, which we'll talk about in a little bit, then you get a killstreak slot, an armor slot, a gas mask slot, and then a medical item slot. Now by default the reack will allow you to carry five items in game but that can be upgraded over time, and for the rest of our Loadout we have access to two weapons it can be either two primaries or one primary one secondary weapon, you also have insured slots for your weapons just like in DMZ so these are weapon loadouts that you create for yourself and there will be a cool down period on these if you fail to extract with that there will be a coold down for that weapon before it's active again for you there's also going to be Contraband stashes just like in DMZ so any weapons that you've collected in the world and extracted with that'll go in your Contraband stash, and then you can take those items back into the world if you'd like And then, on top of that, there's also tactical and lethal equipment, as well as zombie-specific field upgrade upgrades.
Zombies field upgrades
Now, these are completely different field upgrades for multiplayer, and just going through the list of these six field upgrades that they've outlined for zombies, we have energy mine, frenzi guard healing aura. Frost blast ather shroud, and Tesla storm, and many zombie players will be familiar with a lot of those items as well; they have been available as items in the past in zombies.
Acquisitions & schematics
After that let's talk about Acquisitions and schematics that's something they outlined today so what Acquisitions are is they're single use items that you collect in the game and they also have their own stash section so if you collect them and then successfully xfill, then they will go into your acquisition stash and then you can use those in the future by adding them to your load out when you enter into the map as for schematics though these are quite rare items that are in the world that you'll be able to find and extract with and if you do having that schematic, allows you to craft the various Acquisitions that we'll go over in a little bit so this means you don't have to actually go into the world to find that specific acquisition.
And then extract with it you can just create it once you have the schematic unlocked and this is a permanent thing so schematic, are going to be very high value items from the sound of it however I should mention there will be a cool down on your ability to craft so just because you have the schematic for one particular item it doesn't mean that you can just make an infinite number of those right away and then go into the map with them there will be a cool down with that so let's get a bit deeper into what these Acquisitions, actually are well it turns out there actually a variety of different types of items they can range from ethereum which is used to upgrade your weapon in the game they can also be perks or ammo mods like we've seen in some previous zombies before I'm thinking back to Cold War Keep in mind that I'm not a huge zombie player, so Cold War is the last zombie that I really played, at least somewhat seriously.
But you could have these ammo mods; it would have various effects on your weapon, and then finally you have Wonder Weapons, and I'm assuming the schematics for Wonder Weapons are going to be very rare items, because again, once you have that schematic, for one of these particular items, that means you can just craft it by yourself; you don't have to go into the world to find this item; you can create it and then just fill it with it, so that seems pretty cool. I think for the people that are interested in this mode of schematics, it is going to be a huge goal of theirs to go and collect these and bring them with them because it provides you with the ability to just craft all of these items by yourself.
Threat zones
Next, let's talk a little bit about the map and threat zone.
Like I said, this is going to take place on the war zone map, so it's going to be a very open-world experience. And there are three different threat zones on the map, all around the outer edge of the map. These are going to be the low-threat zones, where it's not going to be that scary. There's just going to be fairly standard zombies here with no armor or anything on them—no super zombies.
Nothing like that. This should be a pretty good place for just farming XP or collecting lower-tier equipment and stuff to fill. With that, you have the medium-tier, where things are going to get ramped up in difficulty a little bit, but also the rarity of items that you find in that area will be better.
And then finally, you have the high-tier area, which is right in the middle of the map, and this is apparently where it is extremely difficult to survive, like you really need to be working as a squad in this area, but of course this is also where all of the highest-value items will be.
Other things to expect on the map
Be On top of all of this, we've got to buy stations around the map.
There's a perk machine around the map as well, so you can just go buy your perks. You don't have to just find them; there's a pack-a-punch machine to upgrade your weapons. There's wall buys, which is expected in zombies, and also mystery boxes where you can roll for a random weapon that could potentially be a really good one, and there we have it, which pretty much wraps up the overview that we got today for Modern Warfare Zombies.
My thoughts overall
I think overall this sounds quite interesting; it's basically just DMZ and zombies merged together.
