All the SMGs in this game are, no doubt, the same as the Vel. You know, those two SMGs are neck and neck. The Vel does have a bit better damage handling, but the RAM is much more forgiving in terms of accuracy. Now if you're familiar with worst to best, you know I'm comparing the Ram 9 to the only two five-star SMGs, so I'll tease you no more.
The Ram 9 is easily a five-out-of-five-star amazing meta-best of the best weapon. You should 100% unlock it and level it up as soon as possible. In my eyes, this is essentially a rival 9 replacement, and depending on your skill, this can replace the WSP Swarm as well. I feel pretty comfortable saying that the RAM 9 is the best Modern Warfare 3 SMG in the game at this point in time, but that's just my opinion.
