News - Warzone 2 Season 2 Update Revealed - Multiplayer Season 2 Details
Intro
I'm Mr golden Gamer, and I make gaming articles that nobody watches. The Modern Warfare 3 season 2 road map came out today, including updates for multiplayer. War Zone, and zombies, but in this article. I'm exclusively going to be taking a look at the multiplayer updates. We just hit 700 subscribers, and we're on our way to a million, so if you like Call of Duty.
I have tons of content planned for season 2 and beyond, as well as some other FPS gaming content, so if you're interested in that type of thing. I'd love to have you on.
New maps
board Season 2 will bring with it three brand new 6v6 maps at launch, the first of which is called departures, which takes place in the departures area of the Zakay International Airport, aka the same airport that terminal takes place in a clean and competitive 6v6 map with areas for all ranges of combat.
The map is larger than the terminal, so expect the action to be both rapid and tactical, with operators accessing a central main lobby comprising a west-side ground-level exterior entrance, main luggage check-in, and thoroughfare. And an upper mezanine walkway and security zone along the map's eastern side set up impressive sidelines of varying heights and distances to maneuver across the numerous cover points or face-down foes in close-quarter combat within the restaurant, cosmetic store, or Burger Town.
I like the sounds of this. I like the fact that you're going to be able to snipe on this map using assault rifles and longer-range weapons, but it sounds like running guns and close-quarters combat are still options. Speaking of close quarters combat, that brings us to our next new map called Stash House, which is going to be for 6v6 and 2v2.
Which is interesting because they're double-dipping here for gunfights, but this is an extremely small map looking for a compact map that redefines the word chaotic, then follow the federal authorities into a recently rated Bay Area Stash House. Climb over or dive behind pallets of cash hidden in the garage.
Pause only to admire the front garden before infiltrating a suburban ranch home filled with glass windows and more cash scattered in various rooms. Explore an open-plan living room, a Denon kitchen, an outside bar area hot tub, an additional dwelling in the backyard, and the central Atrium choke point where combat is concentrated.
Expect an extremely tight shipment-sized map that's perfect for grinding XP, as well as fast and constant gunfights. It's crazy to me that they're adding another map. This small shipment definitely feels like a Sledgehammer take-on shipment, so I'm definitely looking forward to it. I love chaotic maps in Call of Duty.
I don't want them all the time, but I do like them. The third new 6v6 map is called Vista and is also coming at launch. It takes place in a Brazilian mountaintop resort with gift shops, restaurants, and trams. Aside from the impressive views, expect a more classic feel to this shoot house-sized three-lane map with tight interiors and long-range exteriors.
Start at the large gondola or at the plaza on the opposite side of the map and explore an exclusive promenade of shops. A raised central walkway and a glass-walled restaurant; a sunken northern flank with lush jungle foliage; a gallery and upper bar area; a curve around the southern flank with different heights and decks; and a small Burger Town to drop foes from.
We love medium-sized maps, and the fact that they even mention shoot houses in this makes me pretty excited for this map. I think this one is going to be my favorite, to be honest. Along with those three new maps in the midseason update, we are going to be getting a remastered version of the Vanguard map Dos House.
If you play Vanguard, you know this map was their version of Nuke Town or Shipment; it was their small map, and I love to see it coming back. The fact that we have so many small maps in this game is incredible. I really like the chaotic gameplay over there at Sledgehammer, but this remake is actually taking place on a skyscraper, which I think is pretty cool.
I'm definitely going to do a map comparison article on this one, but there are still more maps. We are getting two more remixed maps, and you'll be able to play them either in the Vortex midseason playlist, which I'll talk about a little bit later, or you can play them in Hordo mode. The first of these is a remixed version of Terminal called Airborne.
There's some kind of alien virus that's taking over the airport, and I think it looks really good. Due to all of these remixed maps, the next one is Skidrow, which is of course a remixed version of Skidrow; this one is just kind of abandoned and overgrown. It really reminds me of the Walking Dead theme that they're going for.
I think it also reminds me of an original Modern Warfare 3 map called Fallen that was kind of overgrown in this way, but either way, it looks really cool. I'll have to do map comparison articles of those. Hopefully, they're in private matches. This time we're also getting a new war map in season 2.
This is called Operation Tin Man, and you start by skydiving to a skyscraper in Zakhan. This is the one that is very reminiscent of Overwatch from the original Modern Warfare 3. OverWatch is a really good 6v6 map, by the way. I'd love to see that make a return, so hopefully it does, but anyway, you kind of work your way from the top down into the skyscraper, completing different objectives as you go; eventually, you have to escort this modified armored wheelson, and you know it has to hack into some stuff.
You know, War Mode stuff. I'm not going to talk through the whole mission. Just go play it and have fun.
New weapons
So finally, we can talk about the new weapons. There are four new weapons in season 2. The first is the BP50 assault rifle. You may recognize this one because it is the F2000. From Modern Warfare 2 in 2009, this was also brought back in Vanguard of All Games. It's super weird to see this in a World War II game, but nonetheless, it's back this year.
We also have the Ram 9 submachine gun, which is just an SMG variant of the Ram 7. I believe this is the MTAR in real life I know it's not super exciting to see just an SMG variant of a gun that's already in the game but I guess it's cool to have a new SMG, nonetheless both of those guns will be able to be unlocked via the battle pass and that brings us to the next gun which is the SOA subverter, which is actually the ARX.
