I got both lucky and unlucky this time, and the location the boss spawned for me was probably the worst possible. Not only is it outside of the range of any dead ball turrets, but there's also a lot of narrow space where you can easily be pushed into the corner and molded down by manglers and regular zombies.
In such a case, I highly recommend sticking to the building groups and taking the fight slow and methodically, always leaving a getaway path for yourself. Note, however, that if you run too far away from your target, they will stop following you and heal back to full health. Where I got lucky, though, was that another team rolled in and took a large portion of the fight on themselves.
This actually happens more often than you might think, as many people are usually grinding out conflicts in the red. The best situation, of course, is when the boss spawns next to the dead Bol turret; in that case, slide the circuit in the turret, and the whole fight will take about 30 seconds or so.
Another note: in case your fight doesn't go well and you happen to die before backing off from the game, try pleading for help, using the onscreen prompt to plead, and then using the match text chat to ask for a revive. Be nice about it, say please, and indicate the map grid coordinates where you are.
You have a very high chance of being saved. I can't remember the last time a polite plea was left unanswered. Be patient and nice, and someone will come and save you. Eventually, you'll get those mangles down and the reward. Rift will have a legendary dock CER for you to complete the item set you need if you didn't take other items with Xville and come back with all four items on you: the loog diary, the peill bottle, the surveillance camera, and the dock color.
Portal battle
Make sure you have a good weapon on you. Purple Punch 2 is probably a minimal weapon, as a sentry gun or two are quite useful as well.
Your path now leads onto the small island where the huge black tornado is at the top of F6. Zombies, you can take these fight heads on if you like, but to make it easy, just back off from the island into the medium-threaded zone on a small pier with a gas station on it. Zombies and Mega cannot cross the water and will just be standing there, frustrated and angry, allowing you to simply kill the Abomination from the distance.
As soon as the mega is down, all other zombies despawn, leaving you with goodies and a reward. Rift, and the rift contains a sigil that can be used to open the dark ether. Congratulations! You have now unlocked the dark ether. From now on, sigil will randomly drop as a reward for contracts in the red zone, so you won't have to do the whole chore of legendary items again.
Whether to travel into the dark ether right away or fill and keep your sigu for later, that's up to you. Duck ether is a topic for another article. I hope this was helpful.
