News - Call Of Duty Warzone 2 Is Dead

Is cod dead?

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is tanking fast. There are five major points that I'm going to go over, and the last one's going to blow your mind. I remember in my younger days, I would play Call of Duty all night long with my friends, then we would go to school and talk about playing when we got home.

There's just something that has changed, and it doesn't have that nostalgic value anymore.

Cod player count dropping

Let's start off with a lack of player count. The number of players who purchased the game versus the number of players that are currently playing is baffling. A simple Google search is going to show you this according to gross sales data covering physical and digital retail.

Modern Warfare 3 sales during the game's first 3 weeks of availability were 38% lower than Modern Warfare 2. It seems like every game you play, whether it's Search and Destroy Team Deathmatch or the newly added snipers-only mode, you keep running into the same players according to Steam charts alone.

Modern Warfare 3 had a current average of 103, 000 players, with a peak of almost 200, 000 in peak hours. This sounds decent, but tell me why it compares to the new average of just under 990,000 active players. This is only from January 1st to February 1st. They say it has a skill-based matchmaking system, but I beg to differ.

I'm not the best, but I typically find myself at the top of the leaderboard. Here's where I run into a problem. It's called eomm, or engagement-optimized matchmaking. Prime Peete goes into great detail, explaining how this works. There's another thing, which I believe is called skill-based damage, in which the player with a higher rank or skill level has to put in more damage to get a kill versus the player with a lower rank or lower skill level, who doesn't have to shoot as many shots or whose bullets carry more damage.

Lack of innovation in mw3

Lack of innovation in mw3

The next thing I want to talk about is a lack of innovation. With this year's model of Call of Duty, we have a game called Modern Warfare 3 that has all Modern Warfare 2 maps from 2009. I definitely appreciate the remastering that they've done here, and with the new added game physics that we didn't have back in 2009, it does have a great feel to it, but they took it to a whole other level.

Mw2 maps in mw3

The maps that we played in Modern Warfare 2 somehow made their way over to Modern Warfare 3. I mean, that's almost a spit in the face. If you ask me, it's almost just an upcharge on a DLC. They charge $70 for this year's model and then bring the old guns and old maps into this year's model. They call it carry forward, but if you ask me, what was the point in me paying $7 or $100 for this game?

Like I said, do not get me wrong, this is a great game, and I thoroughly enjoy playing it, but I get comments all the time saying this isn't Modern Warfare 3; that's a Modern Warfare 2 map. Why would you do that to your fan base?

Successful games in 2024

Another thing that I wanted to talk about were other game titles that were successful. I mean, take a look at Fortnite; its player base continues to grow, and that age ranges from young kids to Bush Camp dad. There's also other titles like the finals or Titanfall, and they don't use eomm, with GTA 6 supposedly dropping in 2025.

I'm not even too sure what the Black Ops go-war is going to do, right? Here is a perfect example of skill-based damage: And in what world should that be a hit marker? Of course, I go down to somebody hard scoping, but that's what this game has become: hard scoping with a longbow. I'm not even too sure I would consider the longbow a sniper.

I play with a mouse and keyboard, so when I pick up a controller, I can definitely feel the aim assist. Tell me why you get aim assist with marksman rifles, but you don't with sniper rifles, but when you use the longbow. You somehow have aim assist, and it's quote-unquote in the sniper.

Overall impressions of mw3

blame truth

If I had to say three things about my overall experience in this game. I would say it's a great game. I have decent lobbies, and the mechanics are fair, but this new AI chat band thing has gotten way too out of hand. I was playing a game the other day, and my friend said the f word, and he got chat banned, yet you still have these people throwing racial slurs and hate speech left and right and unbanned.

Does that make any sense? I tried asking the community if the game was dying, and I got some mixed reviews, so I'll roll the clips. Hey, real quick, I got a question for everyone in here: do you guys think that Call of Duty is dying like the health of Call of Duty? What do you think? No, I don't really think so.

cod

What kind of crackhead conversation is this? I got a real question: do you guys think that Call of Duty is dying, or what is dying? Who gives me a do? Let me answer the question of why you got there. Answer the question: What do you think? Yes or no, though yeah, I. yeah, it's on a 20-year-old engine that's dying, hopefully maybe Treyarch with the new game coming up.

The real question is, do you guys think that Modern Warfare 3 is dying? It doesn't matter; there's always a new one, and that's the issue. There's always going to be a new game with the same old problems. I definitely hope that the new Go War comes out and that it's a great game, but until then, I guess I'll be playing
