It looks like the only guaranteed way to get one, and maybe most commonly, a Wonder W, is through the Rogue Signal public events. You won't always see one in the hazard room, but you won't be able to get into the hazard room unless you do the quest that I just showed you by interacting with those panels while swimming underwater. There's obviously another way or another back door from the hazard room that leads you outside, but that doesn't open until you do the steps that I just showed you now that overall, when it comes to these two Wonder Weapons, the ray gun and the waf, they're actually really powerful.
Ray gun & wunderwaffe review
I saw some comments earlier on Twitter saying that there was a bug where they were only inflicting damage upon the player holding them, not the enemies being shot at.
I think that was a really weird bug that got fixed rather quickly. When I used both of these, it did a great deal of damage to the enemies I was shooting. I want to say it's a good one-to-two tap, depending on how much armor the enemy has. You'll probably shred all their armor in one shot and then insta-down them with another one, but if they have no armor, it'll just be an instant-down, no matter where you're really standing.
And unfortunately, you can't go ahead and refill the ammo on either of these Wonder Weapons. Whether it's going ahead and popping an ammo box or using one of the random ammo castes around the map, the ammo you get is what you get, and you can't stock up ammo on these by picking up duplicates; you have to actually drop the wonder weapon and then grab another one.
You can't hold both at once or again stock the ammo up by finding two on the map. Now, it does get a little slow movement wise when using these, so be careful with any super sweaty rank play slide canceling Tik Tock kind of meta users, because they're going to end up overpowering you. Most of the time, if you miss even a single shot, they'll slide, cancel Bunny Hop, and just snake around you, which gets really frustrating.
But if the enemy isn't that good and isn't moving all over the place, these could prove to be some pretty useful Wonder Weapons for the remainder of season 2. It's unknown if either the scorcher or vr11 will be added to the war zone at any point. I highly doubt it, but these are the two fun ones that I think could do some of the most damage, especially in the late game.
