News - The Warzone 2 New Years Update. First 2024 Content Drop

dkdynamite

This is DK Dynamite, and today we're going to be talking about the New Year's update for Modern Warfare 3 and what's releasing this upcoming week, plus even more. Drop a like, and also, as a reminder, there's plenty of brand new coverage going up over on Detonated and Docomo for those who prefer articles instead of articles.

I know I'm one of those people, and there's even plenty of tweets every single hour on detonated Twitter.

Huge 2024 announcement

Huge 2024 announcement

To end the year, it has been confirmed that Bobby Kotk is no longer the CEO of Activision Blizzard. And with that in mind. Phil Spencer did confirm in a recent memo that nothing is actually going to be changing when it comes to how Activision is run. Blizzard or King, or how the studios that develop Call of Duty are operating; nothing is really going to change despite Microsoft just taking over.

That's something that I also predicted a couple of years ago when the initial report came out that Microsoft was going to buy out.

Just 3 days left of codmas

Activision is now in the background, and we do have some snowy shipment gameplay over 100 kills. Hopefully you guys enjoy that, but as a huge reminder too, the CMAs event inside of MW3 in War Zone does officially come to an end in a couple of days on January 3rd.

The Christmas update was pretty damn solid, but unfortunately, the day the update was released, there was a major report that also dropped from the press about Black Ops 2025, essentially a BO2 remaster. That announcement just had the entire internet talking about it, which kind of took away from the momentum for this Christmas update, but I still really enjoyed it. Hopefully you guys did as.

First mw3 update of 2024

First mw3 update of 2024

Well, but in terms of the first update for 2024. Here for MW3, and even War Zone, we first up have Meet 247, a playlist you can see right now in the multiplayer menu that will be in the next couple of days and will be joined by the Forex playlist, which is a part of a new limited time event that will be in game for about 2 weeks.

That event will feature three map remixes, for scrapyard rust and even quy; you'll have a ray gun free-for-all LTM on those maps; and an XP-based challenge event offering the Magma animated camo reward. Pretty big update to kick off the new year, which I couldn't be more excited about. I'll be streaming that, of course, here on the channel on January 3rd, but some things that may end up dropping in very early 2024 before being reloaded on January 17th include the following first up: I have the HRM.

Bonus updates coming before s1 reloaded

9 SMG, which is confirmed in the blog post to be releasing through an armory unlock. So with that confirmation, they could just drop that armory challenge or random unlock. As of this week or even next, it doesn't have to be saved for January 17th, like the classified battle pass sector, which probably contains the tech evolv light machine gun.

We also have multiplayer modes like All or Nothing team gunfight and headquarters, as well as regular infected, which could also pop up in the player rotation at any given time. Neither of those have to be saved for reloading, but I'm sure some of them will be, and lastly, we also have a lockdown for Vond, who is confirmed to be returning here in season 1.

It was confirmed to be a midseason update, but the block post-waring could be a bit iffy. Sometimes they also mentioned that Codm Miss was a mid-season update, but no, that was actually an in-season update, not mid-season, so it's unclear when that mode is coming out. It could be before reloading, during it, or even slightly after now.

Year of the dragon event explained

Year of the dragon event explained

A couple of weeks ago, something called The Year of the Dragon also leaked out for Modern Warfare 3, and there's even a calling card tied to it. It's unclear if this is really for the beginning of 2024. Or is this for Chinese New Year now? The calling card itself doesn't seem like it's for the Chinese New Year, which is on February 10th.

This calling card could just be a free bundle or a free drop in the item shop over the next couple of days, but what is being called The Year of the Dragon event has me scratching my head because I'm like. Wait, what could that be because we have the vortex mini event dropping this week with some other minor updates we just talked about, so when would a year of the dragon event actually fit in?

modern warfare 3

I think that probably is for the Chinese New Year, and we're just going to get a free calling card or something for the American New Year or the new year that everybody else celebrates. So with that in mind, I'm sure there'll be some bundles tied to the Chinese New Year that also end up dropping in February with season 2.

We saw something similar last year for Modern Warfare 2 and some previous cods as well.

First patch notes of mw3 2024

Well, now we should also be seeing our first big set of patch notes for the beginning of 2024. Those should be dropping at some point this Thursday. However. I will mention there is a possibility they save those for a week after because maybe developers are just getting back into the office in the next couple of days, right by January 2nd or January 3rd, so they may not have big patch notes prepared by January 4th or 5th.

Also read:

They could even drop the patch notes or the next big set as late as next Friday or next weekend; it might not be when we usually get them on, like Wednesday or Thursday. So, that's something I wanted to point out for the sake of clarity, but we didn't get any patch notes last week, which is understandable, right?

Devs were out of town and nothing was really being worked down, but the trailer board does give us some insight on what is being worked on or what is scheduled to be released or fixed in the next week or two, so the game was left in a pretty good place, as I talked about in a recent article of mine right when that went on vacation.

Nothing was really fundamentally broken or crashing. Things are in a pretty good spot for all game modes right now. Obviously, I'm aware there's the tier-after-market part that was supposed to be released with week 3's weekly challenges. That's still broken. I know there's an issue with a firing range dummy. Priceless camo progression, some pretty basic things that aren't game-breaking by any means, so hopefully every year moving forward the game is left in a good place like MW3 was when devs go out of town for Christmas and even New Year, they're also going to be seeing new weekly challenges added for the beginning of 2024.
