The Haunting event is kicking off in just a few days, so in this article, we're going to take a look at all of the free rewards we already know will be on offer once it officially goes live on the 17th. So around the time that season 6 started Call of Duty themselves released a short article about the process behind adding the spawn character into the game during this article they showed a couple of the menu screens from The Haunting which gave us a look at some of the rewards available from the Soul Capture event as well as from operation 9 nightmare, this Soul Capture event is going to work in similar fashion to how the trophy hunt event worked back in season 3 basically operators and certain monsters that you kill in game while this event is live will drop a soul and you then have to collect them in the event menu you can then trade these souls to unlock different permanent rewards and from the menu shown in the article we know six of the presumed 18 rewards that you can buy so we've got this little bat weapon sticker for 15 Souls.
We've got this calling card for 30 Souls; there's also a double weapon XP token for 30 Souls; we've got this weapon charm that costs 60 Souls; there's a helicopter skin for 90 Souls; and then the zombies and spaceland theme deagle for 150 Souls. Just like the trophy hunt event, after buying 10 of these items, you'll then unlock a mastery reward, which this time around is this skin for operator Rose, and then for buying 15 of these items, you'll unlock this skin for operator Kig.
Related to the Soul Capture event, anyone who already has or anyone who does pre-order The Vault Edition for Modern Warfare 3 is going to be rewarded with a free bonus blueprint. Once the haunting kicks off and this blueprint is called Soul Harvester for the M4 assault rifle, it's been stated by Call of Duty themselves that this blueprint will reward bonus Souls when you kill operators and monsters, allowing you to unlock these shop rewards much quicker, speaking of killing monsters.
Operation Nightmare is another event that's going to be happening during The Haunting, which requires us to complete five bounties and one investigation contract for certain monsters that will be found around Al Mazra and Vonal. For completing each of these contracts, we'll be rewarded with a unique calling card themed around each specific boss, and for finishing at least five out of the six contracts, we'll be rewarded with the Bloody Mess blueprint for the bass P SMG.
The challenge descriptions for each of these boss fights have been revealed early, and it gives us a bit of a taste for what to expect. So for the butcher, we have to activate the altars of Lilith to open a nightmare portal, which will take us to the boss fight itself. The description of the swamp creature tells us to find a tiara to summon and then defeat the swamp creature, who will be located in the Mazar, Marshlands.
Another boss fight is against the pharaoh, and the description for this tells us to interact with the sarcophagus, which is an Egyptian tomb, to then awaken and defeat the pharaoh out of the Oas's point of interest. There's also going to be the ghost train driving around the map, which we have to raid for loot and then capture the heart from the safe.
The challenge for the UFO boss tells us to destroy the anomalies and the summoned UFO and to then deliver the artifact to the portal. And finally, as an investment contract that requires us to find certain monsters around Al Mazera, we need to find a reaper in the quarry, a specta within Al Mazer City, a ghoul in Albra Fortress, and a witch in the airport.
Like I say, once you've completed five out of these six contracts, you'll then unlock the bloody mess blueprint for the best P SMG. Over the course of the haunting event, while it's live, there's also going to be an opportunity to unlock 10 different rewards by just logging into the game. All of these rewards have been revealed this morning over on Twitter, so the first day that you log in, you'll unlock this pumpkin weapon, Sharm.
The next day, you'll unlock this animated emblem. The third day, you'll unlock a double-weapon XP token. On the fourth day, you'll unlock this zombie weapon sticker. On day five, you'll unlock this animated calling card, and the next day, you'll unlock another weapon sticker. On day seven, there is this loading screen that has this bad, fast-looking zombie on it.
On day eight, there's a double battle pass XP token. On Day N, there is another weapon sticker of a witch-looking chick, and then finally, on Day 10, you'll unlock this blueprint for the Bryson 800 shotgun called Nightmare Sweats. On top of all of the rewards we've already gone over in this article, it was also teased in the season 6 blog post that there'll be a selection of different hidden rewards to complete on Von Del, similar to what we saw when the map was first introduced.
There haven't been any leaks about what these rewards could be, but there is a chance that one of them, at least, could be this blueprint that was pictured in the season 6 blog post because it's not in the battle pass or it's not tied to any other bundle or challenge. We're also yet to learn how the ghouly camo is going to be unlocked, which is still heavily rumored to be through a haunting event challenge.
