News - Breaking: Free Operator Unlock & 18. Rewards. Warzone 4 Year Anniversary Event
This is DK Dynamite, and this morning we have some breaking news in regards to a surprise war zone event that just went live to celebrate the four-year anniversary. Drop a like, and also, as a reminder, we got plenty of brand new content going up over on detonated dcom for those that want additional coverage of multiplayer war zones and zombies in the form of articles, plus we got plenty of tweets every single hour on detonated Twitter, but first and foremost.
Vondel battle royale returns
I do want to address some confusion that I got asked about a little bit over the last couple of days, and that is the fact that the patch notes do refer to Vondo Battle Royale as a new experience for the mid-season 2 update. For whatever reason, it does say it's a new experience, and they also go into detail about how Champions Quest is also available for Vondal.
I think there's an explanation as to why it's considered new, and it's because we haven't seen Vondal Battle Royale support following the MW3. Movement integration, so obviously vondo ended up releasing last year during season 4 of Modern Warfare 2, and I believe both Battle Royale and Resurgence support remained active for the remainder of that game's life cycle, but obviously vondo and asika got removed once MW3 initially came out, and then once we got the Resurgence update in season 1, that's when both maps got brought back.
That's probably why it's labeled as new, unless it was a big typo that we just don't understand.
4 year anniversary of warzone!
But with that, today is the four-year anniversary of War Zone, which is crazy to think about. It was over four years ago when we first hopped into Verdansk and got to experience War Zone. For the First Time Wild to think about, but last year with the three-year anniversary, we actually got a series of free gifts that I thought were pretty cool, but they didn't all drop at once; they were kind of spread across.
I think, a good two to three weeks, so we ended up getting calling cards, an emblem, a sticker, a vinyl charm, and lastly, a really cool Memory Maker blueprint, a pretty badass-looking skin, and it was actually a very viable weapon to use in multiplayer and war zone, so that was a pretty brief celebration that we got last year, and obviously last year, war zone was in a pretty rough state at the time.
There were only, I think, just Alaza and Asika. We hadn't gotten Vondo just yet, but right now War Zone is in a really good place, aside from the weird cheating that gets crazy every now and again, and I know Ricochet is on top of it. Aside from all that. I think in terms of just gameplay, meta maps, and a bunch of quality of life features.
I couldn't be happier with War Zone, and we'll circle back to one issue in a little bit because there is one thing that I think is frustrating.
Verdansk returning later this year
A lot of people say week after week we'll get back to that, but I want to say for the 5-year anniversary, which is going to be during the Black Ops life cycle. That would be the most ideal time to bring Verdance back, but what's cool is that a map's actually coming out sooner than that, and it's reportedly going to be returning this December with the season 1 update for Black Ops Golf War and War Zone, and Reir Allba is confirmed for season 3 at this point; it's already confirmed for mid-2024.
Season 3 kind of fits that bill, according to the leakers, and after all the data mining that happened for season 2, reloaded ranked play is also going to be added to Rebirth, and I'm sure all that will happen throughout season 3, but here's what I'm wondering.
Huge issue with the playlist rotations
Right, what's going on with playlist rotation?
That's the only issue I have with War Zone as of right now. It is atrocious that we got a beautiful new point of interest update and some pretty cool quality of life changes in War Zone with the recent season 2 reloaded download, but we just can't play Fortune Keep with our friends; it's solos only.
You can only play duos on Ersan, and you can only play trios on Vondo, then quad zika. I think we definitely need to see at least a good rotation between all the maps at once, not just one squad size per map every week. That, to me, just isn't going to fly, and I wonder what the data is behind the scenes right now in terms of how many people are playing War Zone and how many folks are engaged with each of these playlists.
I mean, yeah, it would be cool to go back to what we saw in War Zone 1, which is every squad size being available for each map that's live. Warzone welcome missions update
But as I was playing War Zone last night, all of a sudden something called War Zone welcome missions did pop up for Fardi, but not for Sh or me. For whatever reason, this is something that has gone live for select people around the world, but what are the odds that are starting to roll out even more as we enter the 4th anniversary of War Zone altogether?
So here's how all this works: We have what are called war zone missions, which just went live for the main war zone experience. Funny enough, these missions did leak out a couple of weeks ago, and the DAT miners out there misinterpreted these war zone missions.
