Intro
All right, so if you clicked on today's article, you're probably pretty serious about improving your kill-death ratio and/or your skills here in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. This guide right here is going to be primarily a mouse- and keyboard-focused guide.
Choosing a mouse shape (important!)
But I want to preface this by saying there is going to be some juicy information and the information near the end of the article will also pertain to controller players so this isn't specific to mouse and keyboard players I'm just focusing more so on the mouse and keyboard side in today's article all right so if you're genuinely serious about improving your aim and call of Duty one of the first things I recommend for people that are starting out on mouse and keyboard, is finding a mouse that matches and suits your grip style, now a lot of people are going to be watching this be like I don't even know how to grip a mouse what do you mean grip style well I'll give you a little quick tip, so pick sure you're writing, right you're writing I don't know how people write but I write like this when I have a pencil and I'll be anchoring the side of my hand like this to try and get the most precise you know, movement here right the same thing applies to when you're using a mouse so you're going to want to find the mouse.
A lot of them will flare out on the sides, which I personally don't like, but a lot of them will taper in and have comfort grooves like on this mouse, which is the Zoi EC3. I also own about 13 mice; these are my three main ones that I use, but the Death Adder V3 Pro is the main mouse that I like to use.
These are both ergonomic mice, the EC3 and the DAV3. And then we have a symmetrical mouse here, which is a Zo S2. Now, this is basically the same on both sides, and the corners kind of taper in this mouse, which I really do like, but after I broke my hand. I don't know if you guys could see, but I have no knuckles here.
After I broke my hand, this mouse is extremely hard to use for long periods of time, so, really, just kind of go and find what mouse you like. Now, I know a lot of people are going to be like, Well, I don't have money to buy a crop load of mice, and gaming mice are expensive. One thing I highly recommend you guys do is if you guys can get to like Best Buy or something that has an actual display that allows you to hold the mouse and feel how it feels in your hand. I highly recommend doing that and then using the tools that I'm giving you today to make a decision on a final buy for a mouse.
Find your ideal grip style!
The second is grip style, right? So here's my grip style. I'm going to put these two mice aside because I don't use them, but my grip style does. Kind of mixture, of a fingertip and a claw grip now there's basically three styles of grip when it comes to you know mice now this could vary between person and person some people play like a hybrid grip like me but there's three main categories when it comes to grip Style on a mouse there's palm grip which would basically be fingers completely laid out flat like this and some people this is extremely comfortable and allows them with a lot of stability like that allows them to have a lot of smoothness, to their aim right, see how smooth that is I could go and if there's a Target here tracking across and he was running I could very easily keep up with him it's not that hard claw grip allows for more Snappy.
I find it, so let's say there's one in this window over here, and I need to snap. I could do that. It's just that I don't like the claw very much because, as you can see, I don't have very much control over it, so what I like to do is play a claw. Fingertip, hybrid, and now a claw grip would still insinuate that you're touching your palm here to the edge of the mouse.
Now, I don't like to do that. I like to sit farther back on the mouse and actually have the tops of my fingers kind of do the aiming for me while I anchor my palm and wrist area here on the pad. You could also push in if you're finding that your aim is extremely shaky, so you can actually get a nice, smooth.
You know about tracking. I actually find that I track better using this method than the Palm grip method, but it also helps with flicks like if I need to flick over here real quick I can, you know like if the guy's in the window, it's very easy for me to just kind of pop some heads and I'll be putting a clip right here so you guys can see what this actually looks like when I'm warmed up as you can see on screen right now I'm just absolutely smashing heads so it's fantastic it's fun but yeah guys when I talk about Mouse shape I highly recommend finding a mouse that feels most like a pencil for you guys all right so another thing that people seem to overlook when it comes to improving their aim in Call of Duty is a mouse pad choice, now if you look right here I have an artisan Heen, and this is a mixture between a speed and control pad now this is on more of the expensive side all of the Artisan pads are extremely expensive, this is just like I said a little tiny square and this mouse p cost me like $90.
Choosing the right mousepad!
Canadian now I have three Artisan pads. I have the Heen, which is a mixture between speed and control; I have the Raiden, which is a strictly speed pad with absolutely no stopping power; you feel like you're on glass; and then I have the Artisan Zero, which is currently in the back right now being dried because I just gave it a deep clean, and that is by far my favorite pad; it provides me with the most control, but that pad itself is a strictly control pad.
Now, I will say one thing: I had somewhere between a 2 and a 2.5 KD when I was using this Heen and also the Artisen Raiden. The minute I switched to zero and had a control pad that provided me with more control, my KD went to almost a 40. Now there's other things involved in that, like game sense and other things like that.
It's not strictly just a mouse pad, like don't fool yourself thinking you're going to go buy a mouse pad and be the greatest player in the world because it's not going to happen, but if you're not somebody who wants to shell out, you know 90 bucks for a tiny little square one thing that I highly recommend I have right here.

Dpi & finding the perfect sensitivity
Really, don't fret. I used to play on 600 DPI, and my aim hasn't really gotten much better since I bumped it up, so it's more like a placebo effect. I suppose, and it's just me trying to minmax my skills, you know, as much as I possibly can, but generally, if you're just starting off. I'd probably recommend like a 400 DPI just so you're pretty low, but if you want to feel like what a DPI increase feels like, just download whatever program you have for the mouse, adjust your DPI up and down, and then just kind of move your cursor around the desktop.
