I couldn't believe it. I didn't make a single article between January 1st and now. I've been kind of taking a chill, just kind of relaxing a little bit after all the craziness, of course, with the Modern Warfare 3 launch and covering all that stuff, but now that 2024 is here, it's time to get back into the swing of things, and the first article of the year I wanted to make is going to be about the carry forward feature.

that was the whole focus of this article here and I kind of had like my own pred decided Notions going into this but the more I thought about it the more I'm starting to really warm up to the feature even more even though I was initially one of the biggest supporters, of carry forward I'm so sick and tired of every year you grind the game you do this you do that and then the next game comes out now suddenly everything you did was completely pointless it's all gone unless you decide to go back to that game before but in general especially nowadays I just I feel like cod, doesn't have that same Nostalgia Factor like it used to like in back when you know Modern Warfare 2 is out I would still go back and play World of War in COD 4 because I love those games you know Modern Warfare 3 the og1, came out I was still going back to Black Ops 1 you know I just I would do that all the time I don't do that as much anymore do you guys like do you guys ever find yourself like going back to Cold War going back to Modern Warfare 2 Modern Warfare 2019.

Vanguard, for crying out loud like I was actually scrolling through YouTube today and I got recommended a article of the actual Eagles Nest, which is one of the multiplayer maps that we had in Vanguard, but it was like the actual location it was based on. I went down like this whole ass rabbit hole, and now it makes me kind of want to play Vanguard, but regardless, we're getting off topic here.

Carrying forward and going into this article, I wanted to say that it was a failure from the weapon perspective, which is the whole point of the gameplay you guys are watching. I'm using all my old Modern Warfare 2 guns. I jumped on Modern Warfare 2 and took screenshots of all my setups and stuff because, of course, your blueprints and your loadouts don't carry forward for some reason, so I had to go through and find all the old attachments I would use on my M4, my M16, my MP5, so on and so forth, and then I took all that into Modern Warfare 3 just to kind of try it out, but the reason why I thought it was kind of a failure going into this was that you never see people really using it.

Modern Warfare 2 Guns Aside from a couple of exceptions, you see the intervention, obviously the snip rifle, which one's it called the SPX, like it's a really good quick scope gun. You find that one pretty often as well, but in general, how many AK-47s? Do you see how many Lockman submachine guns there are?

And mind you, these are some of the most iconic guns in COD history, basically your MP5, your AK-47, and your 74U. Even your M4, for which I saw a article from Ace the other day saying that the M4 is actually one of the better guns here in Modern Warfare 3, but in general you just don't see it, and I think it's because the game is still relatively new, people are still unlocking their interstellar camo, they're still grinding and getting their weapon levels up, and stuff like that.

I get it, but on the flip side of things, I also get that the Cod Community is usually a bunch of dicks, and if something is OP, if something is really good. That's what they use; it doesn't matter if it came out last year, like if one of the guns in this game from the old Cod was OP, that's all you would see, but no, you see things like the MCW all the time.

You know you don't see things like the M4 people tell me about the M3B, which is pretty good regardless. I don't know you, just that you don't see them, so I thought to myself, you know, carry forward a failure like are we going to ever see people actually using Modern Warfare 2 guns consistently in COD or is that never really going to end up happening?

I guess we're going to have to wait and see, but I thought more about it, and it's not even so much about the meta of the game and what people like to run, but I think that in general, carry forward is a fantastic feature. I just don't think it's being utilized as well. As much as, maybe, what Sledgehammer and Infinity Ward wanted, you know what I mean, like, when it comes to the skins, that's one thing, like, we see the skins all the time the camos.

I remember when Modern Warfare 3 first came out, those of us who grinded through the entire haunting event and then got the, what was even called The Haunting Camo Ghoulish, Ghosti, or something? You know that camo was everywhere; it was a really cool-looking camo, and people really enjoyed it. I used it myself, so from a cosmetic perspective, like your camos and your operators, sure, people are using that all the time, but I feel like.

Next time, they're going to have to do a little bit better when it comes to weapon tuning and making things feel a bit more organic because all the Modern Warfare 2 guns had to be rebalanced. Going into Modern Warfare 3, it makes sense that it was a game that had a really fast time to kill with 100 health.

Well, this is a game with a slower time to kill and 150 health, and as such, the weapons had to be rebalanced. I get that, and I think that's the reason why the game kind of feels so weird whenever you do decide to use Modern Warfare 2 weapons. Like, sure, you're used to the old time to kill; you're used to using these guns in a game like Modern Warfare 2, but even here in Modern Warfare 3, just like there's something off about them, you know what I mean.

Like the visual recoil, it seems like there's a lot more on those guns as compared to the Modern Warfare 3 guns. They probably just tweaked a couple of numbers across the board and sent the guns into the game to kind of see how things would go. I feel like because this was the very first time they decided to do something like carry forward, there were definitely going to be a bunch of problems with it; there were going to be a bunch of hiccups and things that they needed to work out, but I do think that going forward and carrying forward should actually be something that we see in COD all the time.

The problem is that when you go game by game, that can be a bit more difficult, especially with how the games are. I don't even know the way they operate the games, so to speak, you buy a crazy skin right here in Modern Warfare 3, and maybe you want to take that with you into Black Ops. Gul War, well, the problem with that crazy skin you got is that it's tied to an operator that is tied to the Modern Warfare universe, which probably is not going to be part of the Black Ops universe and therefore is not going to be part of that game.
